Sabal minor var. louisiana

This variety from Louisiana experienced extreme lows close to -20°C in its natural habitat.

It is a particularly vigorous form with blueish leaves and will eventually form a short, above-ground trunk to 2 m tall.

The Dwarf Palmetto is extremely adaptable and is a really heat-loving plant and likes to be in moist soil. In winter it is better to keep the soil dry and protect the plant from frost (-12°C). The warmer the summer, the better the Sabal will survive the winter because it produces sugars that better protect it against frost.
