Dasylirion parryanum

Dasylirion acrotriche var. parryanum is a synonym.

The rare Dasylirion parryanum is little known, it is a member of the Dasylirion section. It is limited in desert areas in east to central Mexico in San Luis Potosi, Aguascalientes and Guanajuato at altitudes of 2100 to 2300 m. It grows in desert areas on stony slopes together with Yucca decipiens , Nolina humilis , Agave stricta and various Opuntia species.

The sturdy, short, strong trunk covered with old leaves is characteristic. The stiff, bluish to green leaves with the strong fibrous / bushy end tips are typical. It is similar to Dasylirion leiophyllum but has these downward radial spines.
It forms a trunk up to 100 cm high, sometimes branched. The stiff, twisted, bluish to green leaves are 50 to 70 cm long and 8 to 13 mm wide. The irregularly arranged yellow radial spines are directed upwards. The bushy / fibrous white to grey tips are irregularly spread.

The panicle, woody, narrow inflorescence is 2.5 to 3.5 m high. The numerous flowers are yellow to cream in colour. The flowering period extends from May to June.
