Phoenix dactylifera

The Date Palm (Phoenix dactylifera) is known for its edible date fruits on the female plants.
The plant grows to a height of 15 to 25 meters, with multiple trunks standing up. The leaves are composed and can be up to 3 meters long.
Date palms endure great drought and heat; a very warm climate is a prerequisite for maturing good quality dates.
A date palm can produce dates from a height of about 1 meter, an adult tree produces 5 to 10 large bunches per year, a few dozen kilos of date.
